At The Momentum Centre (TMC), we believe that real, lasting change happens when people are equipped with the right skills, support, and opportunities. That’s why our curriculum is built around five key, interdependent skill-building areas that equip participants to thrive in both their professional and personal lives.
The Momentum Now! program earned national recognition from the Social Research and Demonstration Corporation (SRDC) for delivering 8–10 times better results than control groups in helping participants transition off Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) by graduation—and still doubling those outcomes after 16 months. Despite high barriers such as long-term EIA dependence, trauma, foster care history, justice involvement, and housing instability, 70% of participants remained off EIA one year later—far exceeding the national average of 40–50%. The Momentum Centre’s unique approach of combining life stabilization with employment training continues to empower vulnerable youth with lasting resiliency and meaningful work.
Understanding and navigating diverse environments is essential for success. Our program enhances cultural awareness, inclusivity, and adaptability, equipping participants with the skills to engage effectively across cultures in any setting.
Strong communication skills go beyond just speaking well—they involve active listening, understanding different perspectives, and resolving conflicts constructively. Participants gain the tools to build positive interactions in both personal and professional settings.
3. Self-Management Skills
Success starts with self-discipline. From time management to goal setting and emotional resilience, we help participants develop strategies to stay motivated, organized, and focused on their growth.
Leadership is about stepping up, inspiring others, and working together toward a common goal. Through our program, participants build confidence, develop their voice, and learn how to take initiative in a way that brings people together and creates impact.
Finding meaningful employment isn’t just about having the right experience—it’s about knowing how to market yourself. We teach job search techniques, resume writing, interview preparation, and networking skills to help participants secure long-term employment.
What sets TMC apart is our commitment to placing participants at the heart of their own learning journey. Our model stands out by integrating five key skill-building areas into a holistic, participant-driven experience. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we offer hands-on experience, paid work placements, weekly training, mentorship, and coaching—all of which participants can immediately apply in real-world settings.
The impact speaks for itself: employment and back-to-school rates among our participants average over 85% nearly double the national and international success rates for income assistance clients (40-50%).
TMC’s model is more than just workforce development—it’s about supporting individuals to navigate through barriers, build confidence, and create lasting futures. By combining structured skill-building with real-world application, we provide an environment where participants don’t just learn—they transform their lives.
